BLOXX Media Filter

YouTube is a great learning resouce for schools and colleges, but can also be detrimental and a huge time waster. The problem for network administrators is whether to allow YouTube access for their students and risk abuse or to block it completely but then deny the useful benefits.

This is where the BLOXX Media filter comes in...

By installing the BLOXX Media Filter, teachers can identify appropriate media content and approve it to their students according to subject area and age.

Students are only able to view media that has been added to the Media Filter Library. In order for Media to make it into the library it must have been approved beforehand by a teacher or administrator. Any clip deemed not suitable will be not be allowed into the library and therfore not visible to the students.

The approved clip will not show User comments or Related Media clips, so only the media clip will be visible with no external content.

Teaching Resource

As more and more videos are approved the Media Library can become a great teaching resource, as the videos can be tagged with keywords and catagorised into subjects, thus allowing teachers to share popular clips with different departments and save time searching from scratch each time.
